Christmas Tree

I quite liked the tree on the little car that I made and thought a little forrest of trees would be quite nice.  First I make a cone then crochet loops to cover the cone.  I might have to rethink the material though.  This is an embroidery perle cotton and only comes in skeins which could get quite expensive for a larger tree, but I do like the look.

Origami Cranes

At Laura and Dilan's wedding on Saturday they had decorated the hall with paper cranes.  We asked if they had made 1000 but they didn't count.  We said we had made 1000 cranes before, a 1st Anniversary gift to Piers' sister.  "There's some paper over there", so while we waited for guests to arrive and the wedding to start, and after a quick visit to YouTube (it was nearly 30 years ago we made them), Piers and I made a few cranes to add to the decorations.

Tawny Frogmouth

The bird is finished and he is a Tawny Frogmouth.  One turned up on my Facebook feed and I couldn't stop thinking about him, so I made one.

Laura & Dilan's Wedding

We went to a wedding yesterday and it was beautiful.  It was along the Great Ocean Road in an old monastic chapel which on the outside was a bit rundown and not very chapel-like, but the inside was full of charm and character.  We wish Laura and Dilan all the happiness for their future together.

It's A Bird

The next project I am working on is a bird.  Knitted the body, next comes stuffing and detail.

Went to Fibresmith yesterday and picked up some lovely yarn and made a start on the next thing.

Little Red Car

Nearly finished.  Added revision mirrors, lights, doors, boot, hubcaps, and the wheels are attached.  I was going to write out the instructions as I went along but stopped.  I realised that no one would do what I have just done to make a little car, not even sure I would make another.

Little Red Car

The car is now covered in red felt and has charcoal crocheted bumpers and wheels.  I am not following a pattern, just making it up as I go along.  Not sure it will work, it is fun to have a play.

Little Car

I am making a car and this is the cardboard base.  It is about 12cm long.

Little House Doorstiop

This is the only little house doorstop that I have kept.  It hold our bedroom door open.  I thought it looked really sweet in the sunshine this morning, but the photo makes it look a little creepy.

Needlelace Gnome Finished

I was going to do something different with the beard but it wasn't working, so I did a double layer of needlelace to give it a bit of a gnarly feel.  There is a photo of the gnome in my hand to give some idea of size.  Now onto the next thing that is rattling around in my head.

Needlelace Gnome Progress Next Bit

Up to edging in wire. Lost the tension a bit in the beard but it won’t matter too much as there will be a second stage. He’s only little, but there is a lot of work to him.

Needlelace Gnome Progress

I remembered to take photos along the way.  Was able to make a little slide show of the photos, but Blogger doesn't like that kind of thing, so it is over on my Facebook and Instagram pages.

Needlelace Gnome

I had an idea to do this while making the gnomes for the Christmas window the year before last.  Yes, I know, taking Christmas in February, but it is often Christmas all year at my house.

Knitting Progress

I have this cardigan out on the desk in the craft room and have been working on it here and there.  It's good to do when I am thinking, or when I just need to keep myself busy with a couple of rows before going out.  This is the back and it is coming along.

Another Hexagon

I dropped into Fibresmith yesterday morning looking for a "crisper" yarn for the hexagon.  I like the first hexagon but it is slightly fluffy, the yarn is a 4ply merino, a Fibresmith hand dyed yarn.  The new yarn is a linen and thicker than the first.  It does make the pattern crisper, but I'm afraid I will have to try something else as I only got one hexagon out of the ball, don't think I would even get 3 hexagons out of 2 balls of this yarn.  Might have to rethink the whole project.

Hexagon Granny Square

Feeling a bit pleased with myself.  I found this pattern on Ravalry by Bonita Patterns and after a few false starts and a quick look on YouTube, I was able to crochet the hexagon.  Even the back is interesting.

Bookends & More

Had a lovely day yesterday on Mothers Day.  We went for a drive to Geelong for some lunch and a rummage around a 2nd Hand/Antiques place. ...
