#The100DayProject. Day 29

Slice of Tomato.  Not sure if this one works, might be too stylised.  There is a circle of knitting first, then a layer of felt, next a propeller of crochet, finished with embroidered seeds.

#The100DayProject. Day 22

An Artichoke.  This one doesn't really show up in the photograph.  Appliquéd little pieces of fabric.  This fabric will be the binding of the quilt, so I need to use it here and there so it feels part of the whole quilt, not just the edge.

#The100DayProject. Day 21

Brussel Sprout.  Just the one.  The story behind this is when we were first married, Piers hated brussel sprouts.  He only knew of them being cooked in the Navy until they were grey and squidgy.  They are good for you, brussel sprouts, so I made him eat one, just the one.  Of course I didn't cook them the same way as the Navy, so now he likes them.

#The100DayProject. Day 16

Beetroot.  The beetroot itself is knitting that has been felted, so it is quite thick.  Stems of felt, leaves of crochet, and embroidery detail.

Onion.  Knitted and lightly stuffed.  The roots are two colours of wool that were then separated into the single ply.

#The100DayProject. Day 10

Cauliflower.  I used pieces of antique crochet I had in my collection.  Under the crochet are circles of white cotton, also crocheted.  The leaves I dyed in Koolaid.  Who knew you could get such a nice green with those bright colours of Koolaid?

#The100DayProject. Day 9

Broccoli.  Felt stem, crocheted top.  Not that happy with this one, love how the top turned out though.  100 days, stitch and move on.

#The100DayProject. Day 8

Pumpkin Slice.  Mostly felt, the centre is a mix of crochet and embroidery, and the outer skin is embroidered yarn.

#The100DayProject. Day 7

Chillies.  The fabric for the chillies were stuck to the backing fabric with an iron on glue, then blanket stitched around.  The tops were embroidered.

#The100DayProject. Day 4

Carrots, rows of carrots, ready to be harvested.  The dirt is knitted, the carrot tops crocheted, and the greenery a loose tassel.

#The100DayProject. Day 2

Kohlrabi.  Mix of felt, needle felting and embroidery.  Forgot to mention the blocks are 20 x20cm.  I am not completely happy with this one, but with this project I don't want to over-think everything, just stitch and move on.

#The100DayProject. Day 1

Embroidered Root Vegetables.  So my quilt blocks are going to be vegetables, lots of vegetables.  These ones are embroidered.  I first drew on freezer paper, ironed it to the fabric, embroidered through the paper, then ripped it away.

Gathering Materials

I am going to join the #The100DayProject.  You do something creative continually for 100 days and post it each day. Which is something i do anyway, but I am picking a single project to work on, a quilt, something I don't usually make, and in a subject different from Christmas and birds, something I seem to be stuck on at the moment. The project starts tomorrow and runs until July 10th. I have a quilt in the linen cupboard that I might use and sew the blocks to, or I might make a separate quilt, I think it will work out as I go. On the blocks I will be working lots of technique, sewing, knitting, embroidery, crochet, whatever comes to mind.
