MerryAmiAlong

I made three more little sweeties from the #MerryAmiAlong.  And yesterday had a big session of winding 18 skeins from the stash into balls.   Sometimes a very frustrating thing to do because the skeins do not always unwind easily.

Solar Dyeing

I put a jar out at the beginning of August with pomegranate tea and a jar of pomegranates in syrup. There were two yarns, the one on the left is Patons Bluebell Merino 5ply, the one on the right Harmony New Zealand Merino 10ply.  Some ric rak and a sleeve of Chikan embroidery went in also.  The jar was very pink at the start and after 5 months the colours are a muted, dusky pink.

Mr & Mrs Claus

My friend Jo made these gorgeous Christmas figures for me.  Designed by Larissa Holland of mmmcrafts and beautifully hand stitched by Jo.  There is so much detail, I find something new every time I look at them.  Thank you Jo.

Merry Christmas

Have a wonderful day with family and friends as best you can.  I'm sure a lot of FaceTime calls will be happening today.  We were expecting to be spending Christmas in Sydney, but we are home in Melbourne.  Which is not a bad thing as it has been many years since that has happened.
I knit all the balls in Arne & Carlos' Advent Knitalong, but only have these nine here in Melbourne, the rest are at the Sydney apartment.  Sending love and best wishes to Aren & Carlos.  Thank you for making such a strange year enjoyable.  The knitted blocks and balls kept me going.
And the last little bag to open from the Yarntrader advent calendar was a gift of a pouch, stitch holder and two sweet progress keepers.  This was my first advent calendar ever, thank you Yarntrader for the lovely colours of the mini skeins each day, and very nice surprise today.  Again half the advent is in Sydney, so will photograph them all together when I can.

Advent Calendars Day 20

This knitted ball is called Advent.  I happened to have the perfectly shaped bit of bling in the stash for the flame.  The mini skein today is a little difficult to photograph.  It is a lovely bright mustard yellow colour, not the green in the photo.

Christmas Cards

My Christmas cards are something a little different this year.  I made medals.  Inspired by @knitgraphical who knitted her friend a medal, I thought, yes, everyone deserves a medal after getting through the year that has been 2020.  The medal is embroidery on felt, lots of french knots for Santa's beard.  A small piece of wrapped wire for the ring, and a knitted ribbon.  There is a little loop on the back so the medal can be hung on the Christmas tree.  Everyone deserves a medal.  (My apologies to my Scottish relatives for spoiling the surprise, posted over six weeks ago, not sure when yours will arrive.)

Advent Calendars Day 17

Winter Wonderland is the name of today's knitted ball.  All the knitted balls have four panels to them and usually the pattern is repeated around the ball.  The moose was an exception, with two moose on the ball.  And this one has a different design on each panel.  Today's mini skein is  a lovely bright olive green.
